1914 New Comet 269cc
Priced at £18,500. Manufactured in the West Midlands by the 'Haden' company, this is a rare New Comet from the last year of veteran class motorcycles. Hadens made motorcycles from 1903 to 1931, producing a steady stream of machines, although never a huge manufacturer. This fine example was rebuilt to an excellent standard by retired Rolls Royce engineer, Ken Thirtle, from Sheffield. Andy acquired the New Comet from Ken for his own personal collection. He was then persuaded to sell it to a good customer, only to buy it back again a few years later. Andy had the machine's pioneer status verified by the Sunbeam Motor Cycle Club, see Pioneer Certificate below, making it eligible for veteran class events. The New Comet has also won trophies at two different shows (see photograph below). Comes with a current DVLA V5C registration document, is registered for free road tax under the 'Historic Vehicle' class & has the added bonus of being MOT exempt.
